When potassium nitrate is heated it produces potassium oxide ,nitrogen gas alongwith oxygen as by products

4KNO3(s)———→2K2O(s)+2N2(g)+5O2(g)

When you will heat potassium nitrate.
 It will decomposes and forming potassium nitrite and oxygen gas.
 Here is chemical reaction
 2 KNO3 --> 2KNO2 + O2
