Step 1: When acetone is treated with methyl magnesium iodide it will give organo-metallic compound of magnesium or organo magnesium iodide
Step 2:This organo magnesium iodide on hydrolysis will give 3° alcohol that is tertiary butyl alcohol or 2 methyl propan-2-ol.
