AgCl -----light ------ Ag + Cl2
Balanced : 2AgCl -------- 2Ag + Cl2

When the air silver chloride is exposed to air then the decomposition takes place which breaks the Silver chloride into silver and chloride.

When the decomposition takes place the white colour of Silver chloride changes to Grey due to the formation of silver metal.

When silver chloride is exposed to sunlight , it turns grey.

This is due to the photochemical decomposition reaction.

The grey substance formed is silver.
The reaction is as follows :

2AgCl --------> 2Ag + Cl2.

This is widely used in black and white photography.
