Role of NaCN in the extraction of silver (Ag) is to do the leaching of Ag ore in the presence of air from which the silver is obtained later by replacement. - During leaching Ag is oxidized to Ag+ which reacts with CN- ions to form soluble complex Ag(CN)2.

Hey dear,
● Leaching -
- Leaching is a process where ore is soluble and impurities are insoluble, widely used extractive metallurgy technique which converts metals into soluble salts in aqueous media.
# Silver leaching -
During leaching of silver with sodium cyanide in presence of air, sodium silver-cyanide complex is formed.
4 Ag + 8 NaCN + 2 H2O + O2 → 4 Na[Ag(CN)2] + 4 NaOH
Hope this helps you...
