When silver nitrate solution is added to potassium iodide

When Silver nitrate(AgNO_3)) is added to the potassium iodide (KI), we get a negative charged solution because iodide gets adsorbed from the potassium iodide solution and two new products are formed. Where AgNO_3 is a colourless solid and KI is a yellow they are combined to produce the white solid.

One is Silver iodide (AgI) which is inorganic in nature and the other one is potassium nitrate (KNO_3) which is a strong oxidizer and is used in making gunpowder.

AgNO_3 +KI \rightarrow AgI +KNO_3
