Explanation:

Sodium hydrogen carbonate (also known as sodium bicarbonate or bicarbonate of soda) has the chemical formula NaHCO3. When it is heated above about 80°C it begins to break down, forming sodium carbonate, water and carbon dioxide. This type of reaction is called a thermal decomposition.

Answer:

When Sodium bicarbonate is strongly heated it decomposes to carbon dioxide, water vapour and sodium carbonate.

The reaction is:-

2 NaHCO3(s) → Na2CO3(s) + CO2(g) + H2O(g)

↪Carbon dioxide production from exposure of sodium bicarbonate to heat starts at temperature above 80°C .

↪Thermal decomposition of sodium bicarbonate produces sodium carbonate, which is strongly alkaline.

↪Here the solid sodium carbonate is a white powder, which is used as "baking powder ".

Whereas sodium bicarbonate is used as "baking soda ".

Hope it helps! ! !
