Answer: This is a property of metals known as malleability. It causes metals to be beaten into thin sheets easily. Except for sodium (Na) and potassium (K), all metals are malleable, since those are soft metals. Non=metals are not malleable as they can't be beaten into sheets. Instead, they become powdery substances.
