when sound travels in the year it rapidly gets weaker as it moves away from the source

When sound travels in the air, living beings are able to hear it.

This is because the air contains particles I.e molecules which transmit the vibrations forward and hence these vibrations reach our ears.

That is how we can hear the sound.

Although humans can only hear between the range of 20hz-20khz.
