if steam is passed over red hot iron , then it reacts with the moisture to form iron oxide (Fe2O3).

It is also in red colour

hope it helps

Arshiaasian2113: 4 Fe(s) + 3 O2(g) = 2 Fe2O3(s) is the equation....sorry forgot to type it

Iron displaces hydrogen from water when steam is passed over red hot iron

3Fe(s) + 4H_{2}O(g) → Fe_{3} O_{3}(s) + 4H_{2}(g)

turukanivijetha: Sorry it is Fe3O4
