the amount of light entering our eye is controlled by pupil.
when we are in bright sunlight the pupil shrinks in size to enable the required light to enter the eye and when we are in a dark room the pupil enlarges in size to make sure the required light enters the eye.
when we enter a dark room from bright sunlight the pupil takes some time to adjust according to the light of that room.
so when we enter a dark room from bright sunlight it appears dark for few seconds.
