Polyurethanes are the reaction product of an isocyanate and a hydroxyl group. A hydroxyl group is a reactive group which consist of one hydrogen and oxygen. Water for example consist of two hydrogen and one oxygen, it is also a hydroxyl functional compound and will therefore react with an isocyanates.
Polyurethane foam is widely used in high resiliency flexible foam seating, rigid foam insulation panels, microcellular foam seals and gaskets, durable elastomeric wheels and tires, automotive suspension bushings, electrical potting compounds, seals, gaskets, carpet underlay, and hard plastic parts .
