 \bold{SULPHURIC \: ACID}

Sulphuric acid is a strong acid also known as "KING OF ACIDS"

and shows all acidic properties.

So, by acidic property of sulphuric acid , when it reacts with a active metal it gives out hydrogen and salt.

 \bold{ZINC}

Zinc is an active metal which when added to acid , it gives out a sulphuric salt and a colourless and odourless gas hydrogen.

 \bold{EXPERIMENT}

  • Take a  clean and dry ,test tube and add zinc granules to it.
  • Now,add sulphuric acid to the test tube.

 \bold{OBSERVATION}

  • A colourless odurless gas evolves  and a salt is formed which is zinc sulphate.

 \bold{TEST \: FOR \: HYDROGEN}

  • Hydrogen have no effect onlitmus paper
  • When a glowing splinter is brought in contact with the gas , it extinguishes.
  • Hydrogen burns with blue flame and with pop sound.

 \bold{EQAUTION}

Zn + H_2SO_4 \longrightarrow ZnSO_4 +H_2
