Metal +Acid= Salt + Hydrogen

-------------------------------------------

When zinc granules are treated with dilute solution of H2SO4 , we get Zinc Sulphate and H2 gas

Zn + H2SO4 ---> ZnSO4 +H2

----------------------------------------

When zinc granules are treated with dil.HCl, we get Zinc chloride and H2 gas

Zn +2 HCL- ---> ZnCl2 + H2

--------------------------------- ------------

Zinc reacts with dil.nitric acid to produce zinc nitrate and Hydrogen

Zn +2 HNO3 -----> Zn(NO3)2 + H2

--------------------------------------------------

Zn + NaCl ---> No reaction.

As Zinc is less reactive than sodium.Hence it cannot replace sodium from its salt.

--------------------------------------------------

Base + Metal ----> Salt + Hydrogen.

Zinc reacts with sodium hydroxide and forms sodium zincate and Hydrogen.

2NaOH + Zn -----> Na2ZnO2 + H2

------------------------------------------------
