When the rod is heated the heat from the source is transferred to the rod by the Process of the Conduction. As the heat flows from the source to the rod, It continuously to heat and finally becomes hot.

One question Arises? Why did the heat flow from the source to the rod. ?

Since, the source is at the higher temperature and the rod is at the lower temperature, therefore Heat energy is transferred from the source to the rod by the process of the conduction.

We know that the heat always flows from the body at the higher temperature to the body at lower temperature, since the temperature is the quantity which determines the direction of the flows of the heat.

Hope it helps.
