At least 100 days of confirmed pay employment to every rural family is the main idea behind NREGA.

NREGA is the abbreviation form of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. It is an Indian employment legislation and social safety bill that intends to ensure the 'right to work'. The main aim of this act is to provide at least 100 days of confirmed pay employment to every rural family whose adult members propose to do an uneducated manual job. Another aim of this scheme is to build permanent assets such as canals, roads, ponds and wells etc. If work is not provided within fifteen days, the applicants are authorized to an unemployment allowance.
