Yellow peril is the term used to describe prejudice towards Asian Americans and their respective cultures and this can be traced all the way back to when the first Asian immigrants particularly from China arrived in the late 1800's. It was originally based on fear of something that the majority of society did not understand such as their cultural ways and their religion. This still goes on to this day with many Asian Americans still feeling the effect. The mass media contributes greatly to stereotypes generally associated with Asians and because of their influence they have not done very good things for the Asian Americans who are still fighting the yellow peril.
