Green revolution has led to the increase in crop yields, especially pulses and wheat. It started in the early 1960s and has created a drastic change in the field of agriculture. It introduced the farmers to the modern methods of farming using many new implements, pesticides, weedicides, fertilizers and HYV seeds (High yielding variety). Compared to the usual seeds HYV seeds produces a large yield.
