The Green Revolution in India refers to a period when Indian agriculture was converted into an industrial system due to the adoption of modern methods and technology such as the use of high yielding variety (HYV) seeds, tractors, irrigation facilities, pesticides, and fertilizers.

Before green revolution in India, there was always the dearth of food graind.
The overflowing Indian population was badly affected due to poor quality and quantity of food.
But due to green revolution, in India attention was foccused on agricultural research.
Improvised dwarf varities of wheat and rice, proper use of fertilizers and pesticides and water management were the proper methods that increased production of food grains.
This created abundance of the grains for Indian poulation.
