What has led the desertification in the Sahel?

Overgrazing is one of the major causes of the desertification worldwide.

Remaining factors that cause this problem  consists of climate change, urbanization, deforestation, tillage practices in agriculture, natural disasters, over drafting of groundwater which place the soils highly vulberable to the wind.

These are major reasons that led desertification in the Sahel. When it comes to Sahel region, it is a southern edge of Sahara desert.
