M. Hamel loved plants. He had a garden in the school in which he had planted flowers, saplings, walnut trees, hopvine, which had grown very tall and reached upto the roof. M. Hamel took great interest in maintaining this garden. He would water the plants regularly; in case he could not himself water them, he would often send his students to water his flower beds.
