After the cold war had ended, there have been major changes in the global power structure and the relations in between the nations. One of the big changes that happened was the collapse of USSR, giving birth to Russia as a successor state. The Warsaw pact came to an end.In Eastern Europe, the end of the Cold War has ushered in an era of economic growth and a large increase in the number of liberal democracies, while in other parts of the world, such as Afghanistan, independence was accompanied by state failure.
