The boatswain had at first warned these men to stay below deck, because he had seen the storm coming their way. Gonzalo got scared when he saw the thunder and storm. Boatswain informed Gonzalo that the storm was that of a nature's power and would destroy even the kings and the commoners. The boatswain advises Gonzalo and the others to go down. Gonzalo once again told him to be careful of who was on the boat. The boatswain indicated that he would save himself first.

They both started accusing each other to command the storm. The boatswain also responded back and asked the ones of the authority to command the storm. But obviously, Antonio, Gonzalo and the rest leave.
