Management Information Systems (MIS) is a hybrid study between the worlds of business and technology/engineering.
Learning in MIS is unlikely to teach you how to code, but it will help you understand the fundamentals of how programming/engineering works and how you can translate business goals into information requirements.
Every (successful) business has data, but they don't all know how they want to use it or how to pull the best insights from it. That's where MIS comes in... Not only will you understand the business purposes but you will then be able to go to the IT dept and the engineers and get what you need to satisfy the stakeholders using cold hard data :D
