First of all Buddha is not a person or god or guru. Buddha is your own Transcendent Awareness, which means you are Buddha nature, you are potentially Buddha. All beings are potentially Buddha. So this understanding, which Buddha called Wise View, shifts our focus from some external authority who will tell us the truth to surrender to the Truth that is already always within ourselves as our true nature..which is Awareness that doesn’t cling to any present form or authority.
The Buddha awakens within you when you start deconstructing the house full of authorities that we lean on. One by one the bricks are taken out of this House of External Authority we are told to live in. As we deconstruct our prison, block by block, we get more awareness with each block removed. Finally, we get to the key stone upon which the whole house depends. That Key Stone is the sense that you are separate from the Buddha and from the world, and when you pull that one out, you are your own Buddha. Out of the collapsing building, YOU rise.
