What hellish thing had done the old Marina and why it is called as hellish

The hellish act refers to the killing of Christians soul (Albatross) with an arrow by the mariner. It is called hellish because he did this act without any Rime or Reason.

The hellish thing that Mariner had done was the killing of albatross.It was referred to as hellish thing bcz , albatross was considered as a good omen but when he killed the albatross, the climate became worse.There is an water but it is unfit for drinking.He felt guilt for killing an innocent albatross
