Lysosomes breakdown/digest macro molecules (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids), repair cell membranes, and respond against foreign substances such as bacteria, viruses and other antigens. Lysosomes contain enzymes that break down the macro molecules and foreign invaders.
