Explanation:
- The main cause for land degradation is deforestation. Due to deforestation soil erosion occurs and there will be a deposition of soil in the river bed. The continuous deposition of soil will led to flood. Every year flood occurs in this area leading to the land degradation.
The other causes are -
- Many temples were located near the banks of the river. The wastes from the temples were thrown directly into the river. The wastes gets accumulated in the river bed which reduces capacity of the river. During the times of flood most often the river changes its course .
