Duma was the constituent assembly of Russia The State Duma is the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Russia. It represents the people of Russia. It is the national, popular, democratic and directly elected house of the Federal Assembly. It enjoys a large amount of legislative and financial powers.

Duma was the consultative body which contained elected members formed after the revolution in 1905.
However, Tsar Nicholas II dismissed first duma in 75 days and elected new duma with in 3 months. He did so because he didn't want any reduction or question on his power. He elected new duma, changed laws and filled duma with conservatives. Also durinf first world war he didn't consulted duma and finallt he suspended duma on 25th Ferbuary 1917.
