Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity.Acceleration(a) = final velocity(v) - initial velocity(u)/time(t)

It's S.I unit is m/s^2 (because m/s/s/1 i.e S.I of velocity is m/s n that of time is sec and m/s * 1/s = m/s^2)

Dimensional formula is [LT^-2]

And acceleration is always positive if the body or object is either freely falling or moving horizontally and acceleration is always negative if the body or object thrown up vertically because gravity is acting upon it.
