What ia the role of nitric acid in estimation of copper in brass?

Since concentrated nitric acid gives a product of nitrogen which has more oxidation number than the product of diluted nitric acid

Conc HNo3 is a strong oxidizing agent than dilute HNo3

which means concentrated nitric oxide can oxidise the copper in brass…. leading to the melting of brass in concentrated nitric acid …. and hence dilute nitric acid can’t do this job efficiently……. Hence dilute nitric acid cannot melt down brass
