What ideas and thought come to the poet mind when he find a posionous snake drinking water at his trough?

On seeing the snake, the author was scared at first but then he felt honoured that out of all water troughs the snake had come to his trough to drink water. Initially the poet was scared and terrified too but gradually he realized that the snake was harmless. He was fascinated by his graceful manner of drinking.
The poet has a dual attitude towards the snake. He is caught up between human instict and rational thought.
