If the earth stops to rotate, the portion of the Earth which is facing the sun will have day only and the other portion will have night. The portion of the Earth which is facing the would be hot, while other half would remains in the darkness and be freezing cold all the time. Life would not have been possible in such extreme condition of hot and cold.
