Short circuit test is basically performed to calculate copper losses and parameters (secondary resistance , leakage reactance). We also perform the test on HV side and reduced voltage, as around 5–10 percent of full load voltage is sufficient to get full load current on short circuit.

Answer:

Explanation:

Short circuit or Impedance test on Transformer Voltage is applied to the HV side and increased from the zero until the ammeter reading equals the rated current. ... The voltage applied for full load current is very small as compared to rated voltage. Hence, core loss due to small applied voltage can be neglected.
