An image is not defined as the point where two rays cross. A focal point can be thought of as the location in space where a plane wavefront, traveling parallel to a predefined optical axis, passing through an optical system, converges to a point.

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER MATE......;

An image is not defined as the point where two rays cross. A focal point can be thought of as the location in space where a plane wavefront, traveling parallel to a predefined optical axis, passing through an optical system, converges to a point.

• Extra Information :-

  • Lenses serve to refract light at each boundary. As a ray of light enters a lens, it is refracted; and as the same ray of light exits the lens, it is refracted again. The net effect of the refraction of light at these two boundaries is that the light ray has changed directions.

  • A real image is an image that the light rays from the object actually pass through; a virtual image is formed because the light rays can be extended back to meet at the image position, but they don't actually go through the image position

HOPE IT'S HELPFUL.....:-)
