IF …we become interstellar, is more the case and to do so, we’d need likely a unified World Govt.We will NOT easily do a Trillion $$$ expedition to wherever when we do not even KNOW much about the destination. AT BEST……….. the CLOSEST target is distant enough the trip takes over 10 yr……….and maybe more like 50. A 50 yr voyage means we’re flying a COLONY and they rely on a second generation to finish the trip. In SCI Fi … the TRICK is a gimmick to go “faster than light”. However, we have NO proof we CAN do that. Currently getting to MARS would take a LONG and expensive trip.
