The poem "The Mirror" is written by Sylvia Planth. It tells about herself and her physique in her old times.
She was beautiful in her younger days. She liked to look at herself in the mirror and admire her beautiful face , skin and youthful body.
She valued beauty and preferred to appear beautiful each day. As she grew old she turned her face more towards moonlight and the candle light, as they made her feel beautiful. She preferred to live in an illusion of being beautiful even when old.
She was simply an ordinary housewife owan old woman living alone. Perhaps the society at that time gave a lot of importance to beauty of women.
