The impression formed on our mind is not too much impressive. As at beginning , she is not concerned about grandfather's death. She
just want to grab poor man's belongings like new slippers, bureau and even clock . She is not even least concerned about tragic loss of her father. Mrs.Slater is much worried to outshine her relatives,the Jordan's. Since the Jordan's were expected to start immediately after receiving the news of grandfather's death. Mrs. Slater believed that they wouldn't be able to get their mourning black dress stitched. However Mrs. Slater is much more exicted in ordering new blacks for her family to outshine Jordans.
The impression was too much bad and make readers fell something not so good about their characters. As their hypocrisy and insensitive behaviour leaved a dark impact on reader's mind.
