Mr. otis the american minister was a true republican. He is rational ,ruthless and materialistic in his nature.He did not believe in the existence of ghost because he had a positive thinking about ghosts.As we saw in the play, when he encountered with the ghost first time, he didnot get frighten even made fun of him.Then second time when the old large armour had been fallen by ghost he covered the ghost with his revolver and ordered him to hands up.
To conclude the topic we can see he was fearless and believe in this materialistc world
