Following is the description of the turning point in Dr. T. Ao's career as a footballer:

Explanation:

  • In 1938, T. Ao got enrolled at Cotton College, Guwahati for his Intermediate Science. He soon joined the College Football Team and represented his College in all the matches that year.

  • At the end of the year, an incident befell which made him honestly think of giving up football completely.

  • In a match versus a local club, a player drove both fists, at the same time into his jaw as T. Ao headed the ball.

  • A tremendous crack was heard even by the viewers. T. Ao found that he could not even open his mouth and was drawn to the hospital where he was x-rayed. It was discovered that he suffered a fractured jaw and had to be hospitalized for a whole month, feeding only soup and liquid foods.

  • Regardless of the spiteful attack, it was observed that T. Ao preserved his composure and behaved commendably towards his attacker. He even assisted him up to his feet.

  • It had been a wicked and ugly introduction to unprincipled gamesmanship. From then on, he dealt with such brutal players wisely.

  • In 1939, he was fit again and in good form. The College Team won all the trophies that were held in Guwahati that year.
