On 12 March 1930 , Gandhi ji broke the salt law. It was because the government had a monopoly on the manufacture and sale of the salt . People had to buy there own salt from the government. So the salt law was an issue which touched the life of every indian and thus Gandhiji thought of this innovative idea to oppose the government.
