Byzantine art actually drew influence from sources. Sculptures and Mosaics usually borrowed heavily from the Roman style - The Byzantine Empire was a continuation of the Empire of Rome so this is to be expected. However, there is a lot of Greek influence there too. In addition, and especially in architecture, the Byzantines were influenced by Eastern traditions. Domes and spires were used as frequently as arches and columns. One of the most famous Byzantine buildings is still a symbol of Istanbul - the
