Babur's first victory came in 1524, when he defended Lahore against Ibrahim's army. In 1525, Babur turned on his allies, captured Lahore, and annexed the Punjab. He went on to defeat Sultan Ibrahim Lodi at the battle of Panipat on April 20, 1526, and established himself as the ruler of Delhi.
