What information is connected to power? Make sure to explain your answer!

The Greeks called their religious practices ta theia, which means “things having to do with the gods.” The existence of the gods was not questioned in ancient Greece, but people could follow the teachings of the gods in their own way (or not really follow the teachings at all). Greek religion was practiced anywhere, at any time, by each person in a private way. While people could visit the temples of each god whenever they wanted, people’s own homes were also considered to be sacred (holy) to the ancient Greeks.

There was no single true way deal with the gods in ancient Greece. “Things having to do with the gods” (ta theia) and responsibilities for these things had many forms. Each polis was responsible for its own temples and sacrifices, but depended upon a wealthy sponsor (generally a member of the aristoi) to pay for festivals, processions, dramas, and games held in honor of the gods. In individual households, the father would be responsible for sacrifices, while women generally had separate religious rituals (different from men).
