Starting a career in cricket isn't easy or a short term decision. You need to think a lot in terms of the hard work and commitment you would have to put through. Once you have made a final decision, you can follow the following steps-

1. Join a camp. I once played in a camp owned by my father for 2 years. It was in my neighbourhood. Back then, I had to choose between my education and cricket and I chose the former and quit training. So you will have to choose when you face the same roadblock and you need to be clear on that.

2. Then, you will have the domestic matches. Corporate matches, division leagues and other sub-domestic games which will be a pathway for you to enter the elite teams.

3. Perform and try joining the Under 19's which is the third step in your cricketing career. This is the ICC branded team and performing here will seal your place in the team. You have the Inter-Continental cup, World cup, and other elite competitive tournaments.

3. Then, you have tournaments which gain the selector's attention. Ranji, Vijay Hazare, Duleep, are some so as to quote. Playing for Ranji is a player's dream. Perform well there and puff, you are directly under the selector's radar. You will be noticed. Consistent in that and you might get a ticket.

4. Final step is The Indian Cricket team.

Personal advice: Think twice before making a decision. Once you are into cricket, there is no turning back. Perform. Rise high. Repeat.

Few players who got noticed and found a way into the Indian Cricket team were Sanju Samson, Ravindra Jadeja, Karun Nair, Naman Ojha, Ravichandra Ashwin etc and others. They were all amateurs and starters at one point just like you. They made a mark and kept rising.

This must be a catalyst in motivating you!

Wish you all the best if you finalise on a career in cricket!

If you want to become a player, play lot of cricket, learn crickettibg skills, work on fitness.Participate in official tournaments

If you want to be a non playing member, you need to have experience and skill in that field, like should jave studied and practiced sport injuries et al.

To start a career in cricket, you first need to ask yourself- “Do you really want it?” If you are passionate enough about the game then you don’t have to worry about a successful career in the game, you just need to keep on loving what you do. However, to consider some professional advise, here are few basics.

First, get yourself familiar with the game as much as possible by playing it as a recreational sport. Play with your friends, this will sharpen your cricket skills.

Secondly, learn the techniques of the professional cricket. Watch more and more professional cricket, follow the batsmen’s or bowler’s techniques. In a nutshell, study the game.

Third. Once you are comfortable with the rules and techniques of the game, now take your lesson up a step further and buy proper professional cricket kits (clothing and the safety gear) and equipment. It is very important to get yourself comfortable in the items like helmet, pads, gloves, Arm guards, Shin guards and so on. Refine your moves wearing these.

Finally, once you are done with the basics you can now enroll yourself in some good cricket academies in your city or in some other places like Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai which has some of the most prestigious institutions and keep polishing your skills. If the academies are happy with your performance they will nominate your name for the national team or at state tournaments.

So, these are the few basics that can set your cricket career on the move.

Hope this answers your question.
