Arunima Sinha is the first female amputee to clime Mount Everest. She was a national level volleyball player who was pushedfrom a running train by some robbers in 2011 while she was resisting them.

Arunima Sinha was born in a small city named Ambedkar Nagar near Lucknow and is an amputee who established a world record climbing Mount Everest for which she has received the prestigious Padma Shri award in January 2015, the fourth highest civil Prize of India

26-year-old Arunima Sinha, a national-level football and volleyball player life took a dramatic turn of 2 years ago. Arunima was struck by a passing train when she was thrown out the train in which she was traveling trying to stop an attempted robbery. She recovered after a critical state and fought for several days for her survival.

Unfortunately, she could not save her left leg. But in her life, Arunima had no room for compassion. Arunima, determined not to let her life be overshadowed by the unfortunate incident, decided it must be done. She began training and became the first woman to climb Mount Everest with prosthetic legs under the guidance of Bachendri Pal.
