Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was fond of Veena and learnt it in Carnatic style. One can see his popular photo too. As Vice Chancellor of a music university, I met him in Rashtrapati Bhawan on 26th January. He was only President of India who invited all VCs of the country on 15th August and 26th January.

He was so polite and soft when he spoke with me on music. He lamented that he did not get time to play his Veena. He was very happy when he heard that I am an established musician. We met 3 times in All India VC’s conference. I was really elated that he recognised me. He nominated me as Visitor's Nominee for a few universities.

We miss him much. I am sorry that India failed to support him for 2nd term President.
