What investigation could
you make with a balloon
to find out if different
amounts of stored strain energy
change into different amounts
of kinetic or sound energy when
the energy is transferred?

Energy: Energy is the ability to do work.

-Units: Joules (J)

-Equation: Energy used (j), we can find out that by using equation of power,

Power(W)=work done(J)/time(s)= energy used(J)/time(S).

So energy used (J) equation becomes power(W) x time(S)

-Types of energy: Mechanical, Elastic, Gravitational, Chemical, Thermal, Sound, Luminous, Nuclear, Radiant, Magnetic, Electrical, and Potential (store)

Meterials

-Balloon

-String

-Straw

-Meter Stick

-Tape

-Something to record (laptop, stopwatch)

The balloon contains elastic potential energy stored in it after being inflated because when balloon is being blown and the top is held the air has no where to move. So the elastic potential energy is stored in the balloon and it is being stretched out from the original shape. When the mouth of balloon is released elastic potential energy transforms into kinetic energy and thrust energy. Kinetic energy makes balloon to move forward, and deflating sound comes from sound energy when the balloon loses the air, so elastic energy also transforms into sound energy as well.
