Ultrafiltration is a process in the kidney by which urea, salt, water and glucose etc. is extracted from the blood. When blood passes through the top of the nephron, it enters a structure called the glomerulus which is a network of tiny capillaries.

Vasodilation in the afferent arteriole and vasconstriction in the efferent arteriole will increase blood flow (and hydrostatic pressure) in the glomerulus and will increase GFR. ... An obstruction will increase the Bowman's capsule hydrostatic pressure and will consequently decrease GFR.
