It is always preferred to keep 3/2''margin on left side of paper so that the text will be in the same line and in same vertical. From childhood if a child is practicing this, then it is a best practice.

In exam, people prefer to keep 3/2''margin on right side of paper also so that they can do any kind of rough work there. It is advisable to do so teachers can understand the rough also.
