3(x + 4) \\  \\ it \:  \: means \:  \: that \:  \: we \:  \: have \:  \\  \: to \:  \: multiply \:  \: both \:  \: the \\ numbers \:  \: or \:  \: integers \: with \:  \: 3 \\  \\ so. \:  \: 3(x + 4) \\  = (3 \times x) + (3 \times 4) \\  = 3x + 12
